Many would argue what is street photography and what it is not and to be honest I don’t care, it is what I want it to be especially on my own blog.  What I have liked in the recent times with street photography, is simplicity.  Street life, shadows, simple paths being crossed, or chance shots.  Not limiting to myself on this for sure, but it is what I am looking for more of lately.

2018 man these years are coming around faster and faster, yet I don’t think I am getting any faster.  My first post for the year, as I picked up a roll of film from the lab today which was shot on my TANK of a camera Nikon F3 on Agfa Vista 400 film.

Realistically this was shot between Christmas and New Years, though I count it as when it is developed which enables me to use it in 2018 posts of course as I think it is brilliant…cough, see you around the streets of Perth.

a dog's life

Whenever you get doggies in the city, the peoples will come.  Not sure if it is because dog’s are rarely in the city or if it is just that Aussies love their dogs, probably a mixture of both.  Stuff me, that Saint Bernard was huge…I want one of course, to go with my two Goldies.

Over the last week or so I was shooting a roll of Kodak Portra 160 in my Olympus Trip 35, which I have had for over a year without trying it out. Such a fun camera to use and dead simple, any idiot like myself can use it….hey what, who said that!

Generally my film ventures are mixtures of street photography, streetscapes and other totally random stuff.  I must say that every single frame from this roll I was happy with, except maybe the frame when the girl walked in front of the awesome Targa West beast of a car.  I can see myself shooting more and more film in the future, watch this space…

Winter has well and truly hit Perth, it’s cold and wet a lot of days and even colder at nights.  Great time to be out shooting, puddles, lots of bright coats and jackets, then of course there is the umbrellas.

Well I never had any of that today, I met a couple of mates Wing and Sandra in the city for some shooting.  We chatted and shot and chatted more to be honest before it was time to head back to the office, though found a few shots that I liked.

I was trying something out, shooting a guy pushing a pram between the branches of a tree.  It worked, captured him reasonably well centred but as I snapped the shot, this little kid who was in the pram noticed me and poked his finger at me haha…check it out, cheeky little lad.poke the finger

When shooting the streets I am looking for something interesting, be that a person or group of people doing something odd or just being themselves.  Often I see many things happening that may be somewhat ordinary, but combined and layered in a photograph they make the scene look very cool and worthy of a capture.  These are normal people, going about their business and they all made me happy creating art.layers

Took the girls to the Hyde Park Fair today.  It was another amazingly bloody hot day here in Perth, the Fair is on this time of year every year and there is still packed with thousands of peoples enjoying the day.

The youngens were on some super bounce bungee jumping trampoline thing, and while they were there I went to have a gander at the vintage car display.  Plenty of amazing old cars, lots of history but what did I spy in the back seat of one of the cars…this older gent flaked out fast asleep in the back.
